By Jeremy Krauss
Jeremy Krauss is one of the last students of Moshé Feldenkrais and taught and practiced the Feldenkrais method. In particular, through his work with children with special support needs, he has developed an interprofessional and expanded approach. With this new approach (Jeremy Krauss Approach – JKA), experience-oriented learning, development and personal growth can be supported in a skill-oriented manner in various developmental delays.
Treatment success can be achieved especially in children whose difficulties lie in the neurological, musculoskeletal, psychological or socioemotional area.
Using numerous case examples and with vivid photo stretches, the author reflects his experiences that are connectable for topics such as motor learning, neuroplasticity, embodiment as well as humanistic or developmental psychology.
Didactically, the JKA is based on an accurate observation and comprehension of development-relevant movement sequences and individual movement patterns as well as possible barriers. The focus is on the dynamic aspects of transition movements and positions and the associated individual development steps.
The aim is therefore not only to focus on the restrictions or deficits, but to recognise the possibilities and skills available to each child individually and thus promote them individually.
With accompanying words by Gerald Hüther, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Ale Duarte and Bulent Elbasan.
