Inclusion and social participation through digital technologies
Participation has great social significance. It is seen as a tool to reduce social, political or economic inequality. The involvement of users in the development of digital technologies is also becoming increasingly important in the context of health.
However, participatory technology development is a diverse field – not only due to diverse methods and heterogeneous target groups, but also due to different understandings of “participation”. There is also often uncertainty as to how the approach of participatory technology development can be implemented in research and development projects.
The book focuses on participatory engineering development with reference to social and health care. It addresses researchers, developers and students from various disciplines and fields of application in healthcare, including the areas of health sciences, medicine, nursing and therapy professions, psychology and related disciplines or health-related professions.
The authors of the diverse contributions take both a theoretical and application-related perspective on the topic: their contributions are oriented towards central principles and modes of action in connection with participatory technology development. They present concrete methods and approaches of participatory technology development that can be applied in research and development projects.
